Atletico Madrid are said to be keeping tabs on Fernando Torres’ situation at Chelsea amid reports that the striker is worried about how much playing time he will get at Stamford Bridge next season.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho has insisted that Torres will not be sold this summer despite the 30-year-old having endured a difficult time in front of goal ever since moving from Liverpool in 2011.
Torres’ boyhood club, Atletico, were said to be keen on bringing the Spain international back to the Vicente Calderon in the coming weeks following the departure of Diego Costa to Chelsea.
And, according to Spanish publication AS, Los Rojiblancos are continuing to keep a close eye on the striker’s situation in west London – with the player believed to be concerned about his starting place at Chelsea following the arrival of Didier Drogba at the club.

The former Ivory Coast international played in Chelsea’s pre-season friendly tournament against Fenerbahce and Besiktas on Friday when Drogba came on for fellow striker Costa.
With Torres only featuring in the charity tournament for just three minutes, it is believed that Atletico will assess the player’s situation – with the next few days thought to be ‘decisive’ in the Spaniard’s future in England.

However, it remains to be seen whether Mourinho would entertain any offers for the striker after having already allowed Romelu Lukaku to leave for Everton recently.
