The Action Congress of Nigeria in Osun State, on Wednesday, told the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, which threatened to go to court over the non presentation of the budget by Governor Rauf Aregbesola to the public, to go ahead.
A statement by ACN's Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, faulted the PDP for accusing the state government of dillydallying in passing the budget.
Chairman, Osun PDP, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, on Tuesday, warned that the "delay in budget presentation should not be an excuse for delay in workers' salary in the New Year."
Osun Commissioner for Special Duties and Regional Integration, Mr. Basiru Ajibola, dismissed the allegation of the PDP, saying there was no law that stipulates public presentation of the budget.
Ajibola said the budget had been presented to the House of Assembly by the executive, stressing that "the position of the law is that the budget should be presented before December 31, of the year."
Daring the PDP to go to court, the statement said undue criticisms of the Aregbesola administration by the opposition party were unfair and unnecessary.
Oyatomi said, "The PDP should always clarify its allegations before rushing to the press. The party should go to the court if it is absolutely sure that Governor Rauf Aregbesola is in breach of any constitutional provision."
