Chairman of Mushin Local Government,
Olatunde Adepitan, has warned residents of the area against
indiscriminate parking and goat rearing.
Adepitan gave the warning at Badejo
Kalesanwo Street, Mushin, where trailer drivers usually park
indiscriminately on the newly constructed road.
According to a statement by the
council’s information officer, Olusegun Akinyemi on Thursday, the LG
boss also warned cart pushers to stop disposing refuse inside drainage
channels.
He said, “Governments will always
encourage investment opportunities because that is the only way our
economy can grow, but we shall not tolerate a situation where trailers
park permanently on a spot or allow mechanics to work on faulty vehicles
on tarred roads.
“Those who patronise cart pushers are
the greatest enemies of Lagos State. What a cart pusher does is to pick
refuse from households and dump same inside the drainage channels,
thereby causing blockages and flooding.
“There is a law prohibiting rearing of
goats and sheep indiscriminately in Lagos State. Anybody that must rear
goats should not allow them to wonder aimlessly, thereby destroying what
government invested money on.
“Owners of goats that eat up trees planted in any street within Mushin will be made to face the full wrath of the law.”
Also, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry
of Physical Planning and Urban Development Mrs. Oluwatoyin Ajayi,
reiterated the commitment of government to urban development.
“Lagos State must catch up with other
cities within its class and it can only happen when the people are
willing and ready to accept and own government policies,” she added.
