Magdalena Luczack, 27, and Mariusz Krezolek were jailed for at least 30 years for the “callous and wretched” killing of Daniel Pelka.
A court heard that the monstrous pair subjected Luczack’s angel-faced son to a “truly horrific” campaign of beatings, torture and starvation over a six-month period.
Daniel was found dead in his Coventry home in March last year weighing just 1st 9lb, no more than a toddler.
Stunned experts said the tiny “bag of bones” resembled a concentration camp victim.
And yesterday Judge Laura Cox condemned the “shocking and disturbing” murder.
She raged: “For reasons which are unfathomable, Daniel became a target for derision, abuse and systematic cruelty, designed to cause him significant mental and physical suffering.

"The scale of his suffering was truly horrific. He was subjected to acts described by you as punishments but which, in reality, were designed to cause pain, to humiliate and to intimidate. He must have been absolutely terrified.”
The couple’s sick punishments included cold water torture, force-feeding Daniel salt and locking him in his cell-like room for 33 hours.
Polish-born Krezolek, 34, who has served three jail terms in Britain for driving offences, also forced Daniel to perform gruelling exercises.
He once broke the schoolboy’s arm, but did not take him to hospital until the following day.
Daniel was killed after being battered over the head by Krezolek. His lifeless body was found lying on a urine-soaked mattress in his locked room.
Judge Cox blasted the vile pair for lying “time and time again” to the authorities about his injuries and why he had been found scavenging food from bins at school. Shocked medics described the dead boy’s skeletal condition as “unprecedented in this country”.
The court heard that when the evil couple realised Daniel was dead, they did not call the police.
Instead they began searching the internet for ways to cover up their crime.
The case has sparked new fury over why his school or social workers did not step in.
Yesterday a spokeswoman for charity Action for Children said: “Vulnerable children are falling through the cracks of a creaking child protection system.”
