IL Bagno Bathroom Solutions Design, the regional distributor for some of the world’s leading manufacturers of sanitary ware and bathroom fittings and accessories, has identified with the need to maintain personal hygiene in public schools by upgrading the toilet facilities in two schools in Lagos.
The benefitting institutions are Archbishop Taylor Memorial Primary School, Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Victoria Island, and Onike Baptist Girls Primary School, Yaba, and they have had their toilet systems upgraded with the best sanitary wares in the market.
The Finance Controller, IL Bagno, Mr. Smart Akusebo, who stood in for the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Michael Owolabi, said while handing over the upgraded facilities to the authorities of the Archbishop Taylor Memorial Primary School on Wednesday that the donation was the firm’s own way of giving back to the society as a socially responsible organisation.
Akusebo said the gesture was a continuous exercise with many schools across the state slated to benefit from similar gestures and advised the school authorities to put the six toilets to best use and ensure their regular maintenance.
He thanked the school’s management for accepting the company’s request to upgrade the existing toilet system.
Responding on behalf of the school, the Education Secretary, Eti-Osa Local Government Area, Mr. Lanre Taiwo, commended the kind gesture of the company and promised to ensure that the facility would be regularly maintained for it to last.
Similarly, the school’s Head Teacher, Mr. Ola Adebayo, thanked IL Bagno for voluntarily embarking on the renovation of the toilet system in the school and also promised to ensure that the facility would be put to best use.
At Onike Baptist Girls Primary School, the Head, Human Resources and Strategy, IL Bagno, Mrs. Chioma Otigbu, said, “As a socially responsible organisation, we have decided to embark on the project as a way of giving back to the society.”
Describing the toilet fittings as the best in the market in terms of quality, Otigbu urged the school to ensure their regular maintenance, adding that no matter how good a product might be, its maintenance was very important.
So, we implore the school authorities to ensure the upgraded toilet system in the school is regularly maintained,” she said.
The school’s Head Teacher, Mrs. Victoria Ogunfowora, thanked the firm for its kind gesture, saying, “This is not the only school in Lagos, but you chose to donate toilets to this school. We thank you for this gesture. Many schools in the Mainland area will be happy to benefit from your magnanimity.
“So, we will be grateful if you can extend this hand of fellowship to other schools around, because the children who will make use of it are the leaders of tomorrow. They will not forget about the kind of toilet system they used while in primary schools.”
