The championship which was earlier scheduled to kick off last Saturday was postponed due to the numbers of teams that were yet to complete their screening exercise and registration forms.
Apart from free age category, the organisers have gone ahead to introduce U-15 and corporate categories to make the tournament glamorous and colourful.
All the participating teams have rounded off their training and they are looking forward to the commencement of the tournament.
When P.M.NEWS Grassroots Soccer visited the secretariat of MTN Lagos Street Soccer on Tuesday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, teams’ representatives were seeing collecting their match fixtures.

At least 1,000 teams in various categories are expected to take part in this year’s edition. In order to make the tournament successful, the organisers organised one day seminar for referees, match commissioners and co-ordinators.
The one day seminar was necessary for the officials to keep abreast with the rules and regulation guiding the game.
Executive Secretary of MTN Lagos Street Soccer, Deji Aladegbemi said that all the participating teams will be treated equally. He also assured the participants of fair officiating, which marred past editions.
He disclosed that they had trained referees who will handle all the matches without fear or favour.
“Punishment awaits any referee that involves in bad officiating,” said Aladagbami.
