Former lead singer of the group X-Project goes Solo with name as MJ @MJ_MrBoogieDown

Akinwunmi Akinwoye known professionally as MJ @MJ_MrBoogieDown is a Nigerian born Singer,Songwriter & Music Producer.

 

He rose to stardom as a band leader of the group X Project formed in 2000 along side Aziz  Kamara (Slez), and Salieu  Sindi (Saal) both who are Sierra Leoneans. MJ was formally known as Majeed in the group. 

 

In 2005 their first debut album, “Dance 4 Me” was released  with smashing hits songs like “Ayemi” and “Tumba Dance. The group made an outstanding impact on major radio stations,print medias and TVs in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Lesotho,other parts of Africa and the Globe with various awards to their credit.

 In 2008 the group  released another album titled “Sierra-Naija.” With a smashing hit song LORILE Featuring Konga.

The versatile and accomplished MJ achieved success with X project  with multiple awards like Nigeria Music Award (Song of the Year)2008, Kora Music Award Nomination (Best contemporary song of the year)2008/2009 to mention a few.

In 2011 MJ parted ways with X Project to begin a solo career. He is  presently in the studio working on his debut album with bunch of World-Class Producers in the United states. Title is said to be disclosed momentarily.
