The national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has assured all its aspirants vying for the Adamawa governorship bye-election of a level playing field going in the September 6 primaries of the party.
This was stated by the national organising secretary of the party, Alhaji, Abubakar Mustapha, when receiving the nomination form of former military administrator of Lagos State, Buba Marwa, at the PDP national secretariat.
Assuring that the party will ensure transparent and credible primaries, Mustapha said: “We are doing this with all sense of responsibility because if all the aspirants realises that the exercise to produce a candidate is transparent, they will agree that the people have spoken,”
“Hence when the people have spoken, it means that God has spoken and they will rally round whoever emerges through credible exercise. We have no doubt that with your track records; you will undergo the process with decorum and decency.”
Buba Marwa had while speaking later, expressed confidence that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will grant him waiver to participate in the September 6 primaries.
Marwa, a former Ambassador to South Africa, stated that he applied for waiver through the normal processes noting “I am confident that it will be amicably resolved” as he does not see any difficulty to the waiver process.
But the former presidential adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Barr. Ahmed Gulak has declared that there is nothing like automatic waiver in PDP, stressing that all the due processes must be adhered to before any aspirant is granted waiver.
Besides Marwa, former Presidential candidate of defunct, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, and former ACN gubernatorial aspirant Engr. Marcus Gundiri, are seeking waiver of the PDP to contest the party’s primaries.
