Rebel Factions Battle In Sections of Tripoli

Libyan factions traded gunfire and shells in parts of Tripoli on Sunday, ignoring international appeals for a cease-fire to end more than a month of fighting.

The struggle is part of worsening chaos in the North African country, where rebels who helped to topple Moammar Gadhafi in 2011 now vie for power and a share of Libya's oil wealth.

The battles have forced the United Nations and Western governments to evacuate their diplomats, fearing Libya is sliding into civil war.
